Introduction
People often see "gaming" as less difficult than it is—just pressing a few keys here and there while pretending nothing is interesting going on in your life. Ha! The professional gamer sees things differently.
Professional gamers are frequently observed practicing for about 16 hours every day. Their bodies are subjected to a great deal of repetitive exercise as a result, which could potentially cause physical stress. The negative effects of gaming necessitate the development of healthy means of maintaining physical fitness.
1. Avoid Eye Strain while Playing Games
As far as games go, it might be very intense because of the way the camera moves and how the stages change. You would need to concentrate, which would force you to stare intently at the screen as you decided what to do next. You might not be paying attention, but too much screen time can lead to headaches, dry eyes, and double vision. Reduce the monitor lighting, close your eyes for a few minutes before continuing, and/or put on some blue-light-blocking eyewear to help avoid it from happening.
2. Set Time Limits
Even though you may have the day and house to yourself when playing games, there will still be other activities to complete throughout the day, such as chores, bathing, meals, etc. You might set a timer to help you make time for other tasks so that you don't get absorbed in gaming. You might set an alarm on your phone for a 15 to 20-minute timer, or you could keep some Post-It notes nearby on your laptop. Try to play pause-able games as well so that you may go on to other activities.
3. Stay Hydrated
It's common for playing video games to cause people to lose track of time and realize how long they've been without water. Three glasses of water each day might not be sufficient. To combat this, have a large bottle of water (1500 ml with occasional refills) at your side while playing, and take frequent toilet breaks that could also be used to stretch before you get back to your seat.
4. Eat Healthy Foods
It's crucial to eat between heavy game sessions and practice sessions. The body needs a complete meal, especially when participating in vigorous (physical or mental) activity, therefore snacks are insufficient. Try to include more fresh fruit in your diet, eat less processed food, and prepare meals that include veggies.
5. Do not forget to sleep!
The act of playing a game puts a lot of physical and mental demands on the player, including twisting your body in your chair and using your fingers (or arms and legs for Oculus Rift VR users) to perform gameplay. It will be difficult to fall asleep because of the screen exposure, and if it continues, it can cause insomnia. Do well to put your gaming devices away an hour before bedtime to prevent this from happening. This would offer you some time before night to stretch and relax your eyes.
There may be additional strategies you may use as a gamer to support a healthy lifestyle; give them a shot! Enjoy yourself, play hard, and keep in mind to look after yourself.
